Medications at School
There are state laws regarding medications at school. Any medications, prescription or over the counter, taken at school must be stored in the office in its original container and must be accompanied by a Medication Authorization form. If your child needs to take medication of any kind at school please pick up and complete the form. A physician's signature is required for all medications on this form. These forms need to be updated every school year. Some students who use inhalers can carry them with them, but still need to have the paperwork on file in the office.
When all forms are completed bring them to the Elementary/Middle School Office or the High School Office. If you prefer to mail the forms, address them to: Wahkiakum School District, 500 S. 3rd B398, Cathlamet, WA 98612.
Registering your Child for Kindergarten
As established in WAC 392-335-025, a child must be five years of age as of midnight August 31 of the year of entry to be entitled to enter kindergarten. School districts are authorized to adopt uniform entry qualifications for kindergarten, including birth date requirements.
When registering students who are eligible to start Kindergarten in 2023, you're encouraged to stop by the Elementary School office as soon as possible and register on weekdays between 9am - 2pm, this will allow us to plan for the upcoming school year. If we only plan for one Kindergarten class and end up needing two classes, those students registered last will be the students that will be switched to the new class. You'll need a copy of the kindergartener's birth certificate and immunization records.
Download the Kindergarten registration form to fill out at home and learn more about required immunizations for incoming Kindergarteners.
